Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is building the Metro Blue Line as a 30-kilometre route with 14 stations that links the existing Red and Green lines. RTA says the opening is targeted for 9 September 2029, and its last stated construction target was 30% complete by the end of 2026. Reporting by The National puts the cost of the project at AED 20.5 billion.
Underground work is moving faster than it did on the first Metro. RTA reported that the first phase of tunnelling was finished in July, about two months after excavation began, using a boring machine called Al Wugeisha that can dig roughly 30 metres a day, more than twice the pace of the original network. About 15.5 kilometres of the new line will run underground.
For landowners the corridor matters most. RTA says the line serves areas expected to hold around one million residents by 2040, and it connects five main urban regions: Bur Dubai and Deira, Downtown and Business Bay, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai Marina and JBR, and Expo City Dubai. Mirdif, Dubai Creek Harbour and International City are among the neighbourhoods it is designed to serve.
RTA has said it expects the line to raise land and property values by up to 25% around stations. That figure is the authority's own estimate and we cannot verify it. What a plot is worth will still depend on its zoning, permitted GFA, ownership structure and timing, so distance to a future station is one input and not a guarantee.
If you own or are weighing a plot near the route, check the exact alignment and station sites on RTA's published maps, confirm the plot's permitted use and GFA with the Dubai Land Department, and remember that 2029 is the earliest date any station benefit could be felt. Our team can review a specific plot and explain the sale and joint venture options.
